I have just received my latest Council Tax bill which includes the expected increase over last years bill.

Included in the envelope with the bill is a flyer entitled '£150 Government Council Tax Rebate.' This states that we are likely to receive a £150.00 rebate if our property is in tax bands A to D, this is the first I have heard of this scheme so I googled for information and all I can find is government announcements dating back to 2022.

Is this supposed rebate valid for this year or does the infomation date back to 2022 and therefore should not have been included in the 2025 tax demand?

Thanks

did you miss this : All payments will need to have been claimed by 30 November when the scheme ends.
As you say, the scheme related to 2022.

Yes as I say, all the online information relates to 2022 so I was curious as to why the information (undated) was included in ths years tax bill.

probably some simple error like the info was stuffed into a huge number of envelopes and then tax bills added in 2022.  But some envelopes were left over and sat in a corner until someone was sending this year's bills and didn't clock that something was already in there.

I wonder if it’s household support fund? Each council has the option of how they spend it and it’s plausible they’ve gone for a £150 rebate as a way to keep admin costs down. So basically putting up your council tax and offsetting it with HSF money from the government.
Each council is required to put their HSF plans online so would be worth having a look at your councils website.
I’m happy to be wrong but that’s my best guess!

    Probably this.
It is quite difficult ( as with many benefits) for councils to target the right households. So maybe they have decided on a blanket approach to low banded properties.
