I have bought three houses in total but to my shame if truth be known I do not know/understand how to bid or deal with bids.
I have a house to sell (just on the market) and have bid on two houses just now one above asking price (in competition with someone else on) and one below asking price (I fully expect to have to pay more to get it but wanted to register an interest, also this is being sold by my own agent). In both cases the bids have been registered (made last week). However what happens now, nobody has said whether they accept these or not? or what.... am I missing something how does this work practically, do these bids just sit until I am in a position to follow through for example ie when I sell my own or am I waiting on them contacting any other possible interested vendors or what...

Unless you want to pay a deposit or get a bridging loan your bids will not be taken seriously if you have not sold your own house. Unless you live in Scotland - that is - where you bid is legally binding once accepted - then you could have to buy both properties....still raining0
