councils sell off all kinds of info, so if there is a building certificate for the work that will probably be available

I've just received an invitation form "Green Homes Scheme". It claims to offer an upgrade to panels installed under the FIT scheme (which is already very generous). It took me a little while to realise this was a bit too good to be true.  I looked up how much a 445 W panel costs (change from £100 each), at least 5 times less than I paid for (245 W) panels at the start of a fledgling solar PV industry.  Apart from the fact that the FIT might be affected (worth around 1500 a year for another 11 years), there are issues with how the inverter would handle the extra power. 

I'm pleased to see that I'm not alone in having qualms. Any further communication is going straight to the recycling bin.

I have this letter in front of me Green Home Scheme. I was working under the assumption it was a scam. The information here leads me to believe it is definitely a scam.
My original panels have paid for themselves.
At peak generation in June and July i am still using between 40 and 50 units of electricity a week. I would love to add to my solar generation but do not want it void my fit payments.
Are there any reputable firms in Kent or the South East who would chat through the options?

Drop a PM to @Screwdriva, he's helped quite a few forum members to get reasonably-priced and well-specified solar PV systems.

A separate standalone system won't affect your FIT. Be very cautious of anyone who wants to change the FIT-earning system, we get occasional threads from people with problems.

Reviving a slightly old thread here, but just wanted to say that I've received one of these today. It's now saying to replace my existing 250w panels with new 450w slimline panels, but otherwise the same letter, so this scam still needs looking out for…

They've started srnding these letters again. I am in central Scotland. I observe they've changed the phone number to 0113 517 0842. The address on the reverse of the envelope is Green Homes Scheme, Topaz House, St Michaels Industrial Estate, Widnes WA8 8TL and it is labelled marketing letter. I am TPS registered but understand the way they get round this is to mail to the householder not named person. Scammers are causing all sorts of damage to ordinary people but they don't care.

Welcome to the forum. Being on the Telephone Preference Service list doesn't stop companies posting things to you. The Mailing Preference Service can reduce the junk you're sent but it doesn't have legal backing.
