Spray foam loft insulation.

My parents house has the above. Recently she has found mould in her porch and downstairs toilet. She had a company clearing gutters when he noticed mould in the upstairs bedroom and took pictures for her to show her. She had some companies out to look at the roof. Anyway she went with a company and they have fixed the problem but have told her that she should really have the whole roof redone costing approximately £10,000. The cause of the problem is the spray foam loft insulation which is causing moisture. Are they able to claim on their insurance for this?

Most insurance policies only cover you for accidential or "sudden" damage but not from bad installation or maintenance.

It does depend on your terms and conditions of your policy, have a good read through them and if you can't find anything, you could phone them up and ask.

No, the cause is the bad decision to have spray insulation done and that is not an insured peril.

Were you to try and claim against the company that sold it and if you have legal expenses cover on the policy they would provide some advice and may assist in making a claim against them but only if there is reasonable prospects of success and so you would need to have good evidence of the misselling

Be careful, not all spray foam needs the roof replaced to remove it.
It can be removed from the inside rather than replace the whole roof.
Did they have it installed themselves, if so did they pay any portion on a credit card or regulated finance agreement. If they did then they can claim on a section 75 claim against the credit card/ finance company for the cost of installation and cost of removal, plus any consequential loss.
