Speaking to HMRC ?

In November last year I switch from a contractor to permanent. When I got my payslip the government had taxed me at 40% because according to their records I was working both for my current employer and the contract agency so earning over 50k !..

I went onto the government portal and changed the date  had finished working for the contract agency to October. Sure enough my salary was correct in December.

However they still had marked one of my very small private pension as DO so taking me at 40%

I wrote a letter in December explaining the whole things and asking for the tax refund from Nov 24 and to tell the pension company that I was a standard tax earner.

Have I heard anything at all ?... Nope..

Can I pursue something like this through resolver or should I just wait for April to see if I get a refund OR... try and I mean try to talk to them on the phone ?

thanks

    Probably best to call them.
If you phone at 08.00, you usually get to speak to someone within about 15 mins.

Have you received a P45 from the contract agency?

Nothing you can do now about the current tax year, it will be resolved later this year (not April).

How many sources of PAYE income do you expect to have at the start of the 2025-26 tax year?

How much do you expect your 2025-26 P60 to show for each one?

What are the tax codes currently being used for each one?

I have tried now for days to talk to someone about my incorrect NI contributions but cant get through to anyone

Is there anyway to short circuit this or is everybody basically doing the same as me

Can I register an error which will mean even past April 5th I will still get any updated pension ?
