    The way you worded your opening post sounded like she was giving it all away, I am glad that is not actually the case. The fact that she will be living with you certainly reduces the chance that she will ever need residential care.
    Although do not underestimate the difficulty of caring for someone long-term: there may be an emotional attachment to that, but it can become just too hard, leading to ill-health for the carer.

    Also that caring for someone at home is not free, and not necessarily cheap.  Assumptions about what the NHS and social services provide in this situation can be way off the mark.
  • Thank you Savvy_Sue, unfortunately I know the consequence's of caring for a loved one as I did this for many years until my wife passed away at home.  I'm not one for leaving loved ones.
