Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers.
Dry this morning but still quite cloudy. Bedding is on the line as rain is due over the weekend so it's been done a day early! We are due to have temperatures of around 16 degrees.
It's been so dry here there's a huge hill fire near to DD's and the school I work in. It's not a threat to anyone or any property but strange for this time of year.
I got my car back yesterday, the chap collects and returns cars once they are done - quite a big bill but at least it should be ok for another year. I had bought new windscreen wipers and he put them on too.
How are you and OH getting on with your new jobs Coxy?
Friday again, seems to have been a long week, just two more and it's the Easter break.
Hope everyone is well, take care. XX15 -
It's a dull start outside with a promise of a fine day ahead. My pool session was good yesterday then I went to collect my jackets and coats from the dry cleaners. I immediately took three to the CS, it feels good to not have them anymore. In the afternoon my new stain steel washing up bowl which I'm delighted by so the scabby (and very old) plastic one is by the recycling bag to go out. A couple more orders also arrived, more packaging for the bin. This morning I'll be off early doors for my hair cut and colour. I've moved my regular appointment forward an hour now that light mornings are back. . It's looking to be a glorious drive down the southern peninsula. It's a long way to go but so worth it for me.I hope that everyone is doing well. Hugs to all.15

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Another lovely start here with the sun already up. Will make the best of the good weather as it seems we are back to the gloom tomorrow. Bah!
Yesterday felt like a summer's day. I finally got on with the sorting and tidying at the back. It was an effort but looks so much better. It just needs a bit of colour out there now. DD bought me a big fake Bougainvillia (?sp?) tree from Dunelm for my Birthday and I have put that at the top facing the window. It looks so realistic and does add some much needed colour. Once I had finished my labours I plonked on the seat and it felt lovely having some warm sunshine on my face again.
Sadly the day was spoilt by the arrival of this year's Rates bill. As predicted it has risen by 10%, one of the highest in the country. The Virgin bill goes up next month, as does fuel, and apparently the water bill (not yet received) will be going up 30%. I think these big companies need some experienced Old Stylers handling their finances!.
Friday Tidy today so a quick whizz round with the duster and vac to do today. And if the sun keeps shining I'll be back outside enjoying the much needed sunshine. Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. DP1 onwards and upwards now for your DGD, she sounds to be doing so well after all the setbacks. She's a brave little soldier. Take care all, stay safe xx

Morning everyone thanks Gers it’s another bright and chilly day I’m getting my hair cut later I know I said that yesterday but I was looking at my diary all wrong I was all ready to go when it clicked I’d been looking at the wrong day I’ve definitely lost my marbles. I’m of to do my volunteering at the food waste this morning we are having the same to eat tonight as last night there is enough ham and peas pudding left it was only a small joint but it was delicious. DP1 it’s nice to here little one is getting her confidence back a bit and enjoying a bit longer at school. I will be trying to enjoy as much of the sunshine as I can today thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing14

Good morning, thanks Gers.
It's fine here, but that's going to change over the weekend.
I'm pleased that your dg d is doing well Dp1.
Glad the car is ok for another year Camelot.
TA, our water bill has gone up as we knew it would, and the council tax has as well. It's a good thing we don't expect to lead a luxurious life style.
We are going to Alnwick Gardens today renew our Friends membership -that's a luxury in a way, as is our National Trust membership, but we do use them.
Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks.

Morning all
Yesterday was lovely though it was a shame to have to spend 4 hours indoors at work in the afternoon.Out this morning meeting a friend of a friend to talk travel, dogs and campervans - all interests we share. A few other errands to do and maybe some garden stuff later.Hope everyone has a good end of the week.AA14 -
Morning all, thanks Gers & enjoy that lovely drive. It's definitely more cloudy today,booo!Dp1 great to hear LO is feeling better and having a bit longer at school.Camelot,wow- grass fires so soon in the year!I agree that the rise in bills all at the same time is a big worry.Enjoy Alnwick Gardens Scarlet.TA it's a nice feeling to get the garden sorted- the fake tree sounds good.Izzy, getting the days wrong is something I would doYesterday we changed the plan slightly instead of the garden centre & lunch there, we went to the R@nge and bought some plants and tubers which I planted when we got back. For lunch we went to the historic hall near to us and went in the cafe there- haven't been since new people were running it & it seems very popular. We were early enough to get things off the breakfast menu, and even Dh was full enough not to get a cake
We got some to take home though as they are all freshly baked there and very nice.
We've been looking for a new corner sofa for the front room. Before DH hip op we got rid of the tatty old one, I just had my chair and he bought a 2nd hand electric recliner from a CS which looked fine but it must have been stored a long time because in no time the fake leather started to peel and now it looks awful. Seen a couple we like but they're online only and we're not keen to buy without trying, don't fancy sending one back. The big furniture stores have some quite long delivery times too, so the search goes on.I might have a bus trip this morning. Hope everyone has a good day:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)13 -
Morning everyone
Camelot - I've done my washing a day early too as it's forecast to rain all weekend, I'll get it on the line before I go out.
Yesterday was another beautiful sunny day.
My council tax has more than doubled, now I've been awarded LCWRA, seems daft you get more money because you can't work enough hours to make enough money to pay your bills, then they take a chunk back off you!
Scarlet enjoy your trip to Alnwick Gardens, I was thinking of buying a membership this year as it's only a 40 minute bus trip for me. I'll probably go in the Easter holidays to see the blossom, it was beautiful last year.
Thanks for all the good wishes for little one, physically she is getting better but she's having terrible tantrums for DD, who is finding it hard to handle. I was on the phone to little one for ages last night calming her down and letting DD have time away from her to breathe. She has her appointment with her play therapist this afternoon, so no school today.
Right I've waffled enough. I'll get the washing out and my packed lunch made and then I need to go down to mam and dads to do the banking.
Hope everyone has a good day x12 -
Hi everyone,
I feel every second of my age today after gadding about all week. We went to a very interesting talk by Simon Scarrow in Cambridge, he has written a very popular series set in ancient Rome but has now set a crime series in Nazi Germany. His research is excellent and the talk was actually done interview style. It turned out that I knew the interviewer who I worked with when I had a job at the Churchill Archives Centre over 20 years ago. I didn't expect him to remember me but he did.
While on the subject of authors I thought that I would warn dp1 to avoid J D Kirk if her dad doesn't like bad language. The books are great and very funny but lots of swearing, especially the Bob Hoon ones.
On Wednesday I went to the theatre in Milton Keynes with two friends and while the production wasn't quite my cup of tea we enjoyed ourselves. Yesterday we had Nate which is always tiring, a long day and he's a live wire. We went up to the big playground at Burghley House and he had a whale of a time. He is obsessed by tractors and farm equipment so he spent a lot of time climbing up some steps cut into a tree trunk saying he was Farmer Tom climbing into his cab. Esther spends a lot of her time as a little cat so we spend a lot of time pretending.
I must confess to skimming the threads this week so I will just say happy birthday to anyone who has been celebrating and hugs to anyone who needs one.
Have a good day.
