Sky Remote Dead?

My Sky remote is playing up - works sometimes, doesn't work others.

The red light on the end sometimes is permanently on (I've checked to see if any buttons are permanently down and they aren't)

Can change channels via the box perfectly well.

Today it tells me the batteries are running low and need changing, so I change them and put in brand new ones - same problem, so I change them again to brand new duracell and.....batteries running low etc etc.

Can I assume that a brand new remote is required? I have had Sky with the same remote for 8 1/2 years so i'm guessing it's had a good life.

Anyone with any suggestions? It would be appreciated

Thanks.

    Sky/Argos/Asda - won't they all be £15ish? - if I have to I will

Ebay is a good idea, will check feedback see if people have sold them before and what the general consensus is.

    Thanks for the replies.

I didn't think sky remotes were that easily interchangable (something to do with PIN nos), but then I'm not very bright with technology. We have a remote that's a bit sticky. Is it easy to sort out a new one
  • Any sky remote will do,

But when you get one, you have to program it with a code IF you want to use it with your TV as well as your sky box.

So if you want to use the volume function for example, you need to program it with the model tv you have. These can be found by going to interactive and following the instructions for setting up a sky remote. The net also has all codes available :)
