Amazon - short Best Before dates on food items

Several supermarkets have stopped using them.TELLIT01 said:I thought Best Before dates were being scrapped as they really are meaningless.
Best before date is about quality but the food will not become inedible the next day. Vitamin efficiency may deteriorate. But food can be perfectly okay for months after the date. That is why they are being abandoned. Too much edible food was being thrown away.In my house if it looks okay, it smells okay and it tastes okay it is okay.0 -
Chocolate doesn’t need a long BB date in my house 😂uffington said:
8 boxes of chocolates, all with a mid-April BB date, for example. Couple of months on some large bags of chocolates. Supermarket stock has much longer dates. I've no great desire to complain to Amazon, and I'm not even sure whether to raise it with them. Maybe it's normal, but if it is I'll probably avoid them in future because some of these are gifts.Wonka_2 said:
Which supermarket/brand ? My previous employer (one of the biggest suppliers) generally only had 9 months at production so depending on the brand often below 5 months by the time it reached supermarket shelf.uffington said:In the supermarket it would probably be about a year or so,What are you defining as a largish multipack ?2
