Does re-starting car tax before April beat the hike?

From £0 to what?
EVs registered post 2017 will be £195 vs £0 so can be a reasonably significant saving.
Reg 2001-2016 low CO2 diesel from £0 to a whole £20 is probably not really worth the effort and it'll move the MOT and VED dates apart to confuse?
Probably can be done the same way, though.
Ignore the warnings about double-taxing and hit the go now button?0 -
yeah just did it and got another year at £0 - don't know what its going up to.0

If it's £0 currently, and diesel, then it's pre-April 2017 and Band A CO2 <100g/km, so it's going up to... £20/year.
Congratulations, you've just saved £1.67/month.
