Switch via MSE Cheap Energy Club failed

On 26th Feb I used the club to check for the best deal for me and decided to move from Octopus to E.ON Next, Next Fixed 16m v9.
Received a confirmation email from MSE stating "You should be switched within five working days (or 14 days if you chose to wait longer)." No emails since from anyone involved.
I have been busy with other things so didn't realise how overdue it was and only chased it today, 3 weeks after the initiation of the switch.
Emailed Eon, (as MSE email tells you to do) " if you have problems, please contact your provider, E.ON Next, first."
Eon responded very quickly to say: "Unfortunately this has not been actioned for you. I can do this manually for you your supply should be with us by Saturday 22nd of March 2025.I look forward to your reply and confirmation."
I have responded to ask if they will honour the £20 cashback I would have received from MSE if they do the switch manually, but so far no response.
A search of the forum also made me aware that according to Ofgem "Suppliers must switch your electricity or gas supply from your old supplier to your new supplier within 5 working days. If they do not, your new supplier must pay you £40. The £40 will be paid automatically into either your energy account or bank account."
I have now sent them another email pointing this out and await their response.
Anyone else had any problems with either Eon or the Cheap Energy Club switching service? Or have I been unlucky?

Eon have now come back to me to say:"I have taken a look on the national database and it does not show that any switch has been requested.
Please see screenshot below.
We would not be liable to pay the £40.00 due to your supply not being switched as we have not received the request.
In regards to the cashback that is through Money Savings Expert you would need to liaise them as this is a offer they are doing and not us as a energy supplier."
So their defence seems to be it is an Energy Club problem, not a problem at their end.
(I can't post the screenshot as I'm too new, but it just shows something called a CSS switching summary and my current supplier etc.)

Hi @MrsV_Ladybird - sorry to hear things haven't gone smoothly - it sounds like it might be a good idea to get in touch with the team via energyclub@moneysavingexpert.com as they may be able to help sort things out.
