Lex auto car tax rules

I've an EV..
Martin mentioned last night about applying early for car tax so you get a free year from April when tax applies to EVs too, regardless of when it's due.
I lease from Lex Auto. They won't tax it early, I asked them today, due to their 'rules'.
That's a shame as anyone driving an electric leased car will miss out on the opportunity not having to pay potentially hundreds of pounds in extra tax. I'm assuming all lease companies are the same.
Especially if the list price of your car is over £40k, which mine isn't.
I'd like to think it just wasn't because Lex can't be a*sed.

Do you want them to that for the 1000's of EV cars they have leased out or just yours?littlebigjon said:I've an EV..

Many tens of thousands, if not as many as a hundred thousand.TheSpectator said:

Lex were the second biggest lease firm at the end of 2023, with nearly 300,000 cars on fleet.
Last year, BEVs were a gnat short of 20% new car market share. Many PHEVs will also be going from £0 tax this year. Between BEVs and PHEVs, there was near 40% market share last year.
So... yeh, about "can't be a*sed"? Quite likely the real reason, but maybe not in so many words.
As has been said. Their car, their rules...0 -
Maybe they don't like helping tax avoidance.0

Is your monthly premium effected by the tax change? If No then Id not worry about it.
If yes then you could complain however I don't think they will do anything as its there decision on the contract to not pay it early.
Have you read through your T+C regarding the contract and is there anything in there?0 -
Do they allow their employees to pay into pensions?Car_54 said:Maybe they don't like helping tax avoidance.0 -

But the government seems to have decided that it's too late to stop it now.And salary sacrifice cars too, to go back onto the topic of this board. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
