Hi All
I put an offer in on a property.
When the EA sent me a copy of the offer i had made in an email just to confirm they had sent the offer to the seller, they mistakenly sent this email (meant for me) to me AND the seller with all my details on.
They sent another email straight after telling me to disregard the previous email but i can see the seller now knows my name and address and i know their names but not address.
I'm really annoyed about this, what can i do?
Thanks you.

You can complain to the EA. They should apologise to you for what sounds like a silly mistake.

If your offer is successful everyone will get each other’s details anyway. Not sure what the concern is.3

I hope your offer is accepted, did you request the house be taken off the market if accepted? Both sets of details will then be shown on the Memorandum of Sale.
I was shocked to find out my initial EA had been giving every viewer a copy of the survey I'd commissioned ... and all my viewer feedback was too much work. I gave it to the EA on the understanding they could answer questions about the work required, I certainly didn't expect them to give every viewer a copy.£216 saved 24 October 20140 -
Is there anything specific that you're worried might happen as a result of this?
I guess the potentially annoying thing is that you know each other's email address.
Assuming your offer is accepted, some buyers/sellers would like that - being able to informally ask each other questions etc by email.
But if you're unlucky, you might get a seller who bombards you with trivial or nagging emails during conveyancing.

the ANON is for the EA's purpose and not the seller or buyers. the EA doesn't want the two to contact each other and cut him out of his commission, so he is very protective of keeping these two parties away from each other.
shouldn't be an issue if you do know each other's details, it's not like it is anything personal like your DOB, bank details etc.0 -

Hi,
The agent works for the seller and you shouldn't expect any information you tell the agent to be withheld from the seller - from your perspective they are the same person.
Some agents try to withhold details of buyers from vendors but that is a commercial decision by them to try and control the sale and not really anything much to do with GDPR.
If the house doesn't sell and the vendor moves to a different agent, the old agent would be expected to supply to the vendor a list of everyone they introduced which would include your details.0 -
These aren't secret things though, they are common knowledge.I know the names of the people I'm buying my house off because its on the memorandum which was the first document point in the sale, plus obviously I know their address. They have mine too.If they sent your proof of funds bank statement you could be irritated but not really for common info needed to be exchanged anyway.0
