They stole my car from Webuyanycar

On Tuesday 11th March 2025 I sold my car to Webuyanycar, I was happy with the fee, and I paid for the next day payment option.
Overnight (12.30am) the car was stolen from their site. I’ve been told that none of the normal procedures had been followed. Keys left on site, expensive car not called in, gates to the business park left open etc.
Webuyanycar have now put my payment on hold, haven’t paid off the outstanding finance, and are not giving me any indication of when they will.
I’ve had to pay a instalment today for their car.

Are they in breach of the contract? Its states that events outside their control may delay payment. However none of their procedures (the things in their control) were followed before the car was stolen. and the member of staff who bought the car has been sacked.
Any advice would be really appreciated

Had you completed the handover and got any relevant paperwork from Webuyanycar?1

Sounds a bit suspicious, I would have thought if they had your car and the keys they are responsible for it.1

I can't see how a court would rule in their favour
Politely point out the time they became the owner and remind them that if you do not receive payment you will be sending a letter before action
Them failing to look after their car isn't your problem.1 -

Were both keys handed over to webuyanycar?
Can't see how it is your problem unless they can prove you were involved in it going missing. Not saying you were but only thing I can think of.1 -
..bizzare???.....sounds 100% their problem to me???.."It's everybody's fault but mine...."0

Ultimately their problem but you can see why they may want to be cautious and want to ensure that you weren't involved in having the vehicle stolen.1

If you have home insurance, check to see if you have legal expenses cover. If you do, you should call the legal helpline provided by your insurer for advice before doing anything else. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.2
