Hi all,
My defence was received on 08/04/2025 after i checked the MCOL and i still haven't heard anything back. Is this usual?
If i don't hear back within the 10 days (is this calendar days or working days?) then does this mean it's over?
I received an email from CNBC on 01/04/2025 - 'Thank you for emailing the Claim Responses Team in the Civil National Business Centre. Please expect a response to your enquiry in 10 days'.
Confused if i should go off 08/04/2025 or 01/04/2025 date.
Many thanks,

Re-read those first 12 steps; you're only just past step 3 or 4 and I already state the likely wait in the thread.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

If you mean the sticky threads, they're on page one of the forum, pinned at the top; page one is always one click away from any thread. You can hop there in a nano second.
I even waste my entire signature (which used to have far more useful stuff in it) explaining how to navigate to page one on a forum.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi @Coupon-mad, I've re-read the 12 steps but can't see anything on likely wait. I'll just keep checking my emails - it does say i'll get a response in 10 days however so as we are way past this i'm slightly confused on if they are even proceeding or not.

Just keep checking your MCOL claim history for progress , plus your email inbox and spam folder, plus your post too
It definitely wont be quick, nor will it be discontinued at these early stages, that tends to happen near the hearing fee payment stage in several months time. The second post in the newbies sticky thread in announcements does mention likely scenarios and timescales
IMPORTANT - KNOW WHAT YOU MUST DO AND BY WHEN!
The first 12 steps are set out in the Template Defence thread including the fact you can email your defence and your Directions Questionnaire so please don't ask about the early stage forms!
There will be:
(a) Directions Questionnaire (N180) stage - an easy form - EMAIL IT as per the Template Defence thread first 12 steps. Please read them again now.
(b) Witness Statement & evidence stage.
(c) if they don't discontinue (VERY COMMON THAT THEY WILL - DCB LEGAL ALWAYS!), there will be a hearing at your local court. Nothing scary.
Weeks or months after you defend:
The CNBC will send you a DQ N180 form, that must be completed & returned to the CNBC (or if you've put in a counterclaim it goes to the local court).
Always cc in the claimant's solicitor from this point onwards.1 -
Hi all, i keep received phone calls and voicemails form DCBLegal - there voicemails are asking to speak with me directly but they till havent sent me Directions Questionnaire (N180) - they've just sent an email on 08/05/2025 stating;
'In due course, the Court will direct both parties to each file a directions questionnaire. In preparation for that, please find attached a copy of the Claimant's, which we confirm has been filed with the Court.'
I have still yet to receive anything from them. I know it can take a few months but is it ok for me to keep ignoring their calls? As far as i know we are not at mediation stage yet but i just wanted to check first as i dont really want to pick up and get caught over something over the phone?
Many thanks,

All the info you need is in the 12-steps in the template defence thread. If you are bothered about phone calls and emails just block the numbers or email addresses. Check your status on MCOL account to see when the CNBC have posted your copy of the N180, then you can download one, complete it and return it by email. Of course if you block their email address you will not receive even the N279 notice of discontinuance when it arrives!1
