(Image removed by Forum Team)  Hi, apologies if this has been asked before but I have just received this letter from bw legal and it seems rather serious. I had originally been advised to ignore any correspondence  from Smart Parking as in N Ireland and anything relating to the charge. Can't even remember when the parking charge was, or if was driving! I think it was late 2022 or early 2023. Will I be took to court if I ignore this letter? TIA

"BwLegal in N Ireland - is this just scare tactics?"

    Yes.

They don't/can't litigate in NI. They'd have to use a NI solicitor and for a single PCN, it isn't worth their while.  If they were to choose a case it would be this one:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6595299/northern-ireland-s-parking-multiple-fines/p1

    Not you.

Are they also suggesting keeper liability?

Please show the letter again, this time properly redacted. I would like to see what they are saying to people in NI.

Smart have clearly just transferred a load of NI cases to BW Legal to have a go at seeing if their 'scary solicitors letters' can intimidate anyone to pay them.

With a single PCN, you have nothing to worry about IMHO. The other poster possibly does...you might want to bookmark that thread.

Sit tight and ignore, in your case.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi there, I have received the exact same letter word for word.

It is related to 1 car parking incident and i believe my partner was driving the car. I think it dates as far back as 2021.

My partnet and my family have told me to ignore all letters because it was smart parking and we are in NI so it's not enforceable but now I am getting nervous!

Is the advice to continue to ignore? Or should I be submitting an appeal to Smart parking/BWLegal?

YES ... ignore that nonsensical leter from BWLegal
They applied the fake OSNER scam of £70 which is a BPA approved scam and that is it A SCAM.

Have you spoken to your Consumer Council ?

But all of the advice in this thread already answers that. Your case isn't different.

Can we use this as a Group Thread?

No more discussion is needed but people could add their case here rather than starting yet more threads about the current new batch of BW Legal letters threatening to sue in NI.

    THE ADVICE WON'T CHANGE: IGNORE.
