Hi,
My aunts husband died in 1969 can she still get his personal inheritance tax allowance at todays rate or is there a time limit on it. He would have 100% as he used none.

It’s a bit more complicated with deaths that far back as there was no spousal exemptions in place. Up to April 16th 1969 the estate duty threshold was £5,000, if he died later in the year it was £10,000.Unless his estate was zero it is not possible to claim the full transferable NRB. If no one applied for probate at the time the real problem is going to be establishing what the value of his estate was 56 years ago.
If the value of his estate can be established then you can work out how much unused NRB can be transfered. For example if he died in July and left his wife an estate worth £5,000 then her executors can claim 50% of the TNRB.1 -
If she has children, the transferable residential NRB can be claimed in full.1
