Incorrect amount on Probate Certificate

Options
I’m hoping someone can help.  I lost my mother in December and I applied for probate online to deal with her 50% of the house that was put in trust.

when I inputted the amounts of my mums estate it specifically asked not to include joint assets so me thinking the house was a joint asset I didn’t include it. Little did I know the trust separated the house into 2 and my mums 50% wasn’t a joint asset.

How do I go about changing this?

The certificate has already been issued to us, but we haven’t registered it with HMRC yet.

I called the probate registry and they said that the solicitor needs to refuse it before they can change it. The solicitor said that we need to pay them £350 plus Vat to cancel it and then pay them to apply again.

Surely we can just amend the amount? Even with added 50% of the house onto the certificate it still wouldn’t meet the inheritance tax threshold.

Please help

Just to clarify. Did your mother own 50% and the other half by a trust created by your father’s will?
