Car Insurance - Whether full one year policy or temporary month by month insurance is best for me.

Good Afternoon
My car insurance is due for renewal on the 28th March. I am currently looking at quotes.
My problem is that I am going to move house in the next two to three months to a totally different area which will be part way through my new policy term.
I am absolutely shocked at what insurance companies want to charge me to change my address and reassess my car insurance for my new area.
So far the admin charge just to change my address is upwards of £20 online and £42.50 if I do it by live chat. It could be more depending on the insurance company involved. I then have to pay out to have my policy reassessed for the new area which will probably increase my premium. This I accept but the admin charge and reassessment charges are ridiculous.
So I am wondering whether it would work out cheaper for me to get temporary car insurance on a month by month basis until I move house. That way I won't have to pay out to change my address and have an existing policy reassessed.
Once I have moved to my new address I can then take out a brand new policy for my new area.

id guess not but you would need to do some maths
monthly insurance will cost you more, its not the same as a yearly premium paid month to month
do you have any idea of how much on average the new are is to live in?
And what if the move is delayed?
it will almost 100% average out cheaper for you to take a 12 month policy then make an amendment

I have no idea what monthly insurance costs but I guessed it would be more expensive. And yes my house move could get delayed.
I'm just so shocked at the cost of just changing my address alone never mind all the other changes. I don't know the average cost in the new area so I guess it will be better to face the charges for the changes at the time of happening.
Whilst looking at quotes I am also checking what prospective insurance companies are going to charge me just to change my address alone so I can factor that in. They won't tell me what the other costs will be until I have a current policy with them.0 -

How certain is the move? Two-three months sounds like nothing is set yet and its likely the longer the duration is the less likely that temp insurance is the cheaper option.1 -

Unlikely 3 monthly policies is going to be cheaper than 3 months of a 12 month policy + admin fee.
You can do the quotes and check for yourself though.1 -
I have the same.
You need to do your maths.
In my case it was a LOT cheaper to take a 12 month policy and pay the admin fees.0 -

Good Morning
Thank you for all your advice. I have decided to go with 12 months cover as normal and pay the admin charges when I move house to my new area.
I did check what the cost of temporary car insurance would be. I only got one quote but wait for it......
For 28 days - £141.50 which comprises of £66.84 for the actual insurance, £66.64 admin fee and £8.02 premium tax.
As a mature driver with an older car and a clean driving record and insurance record for many years I can actually get this years insurance for £131.
So the figures speak for themselves.1
