That's a lot of prints per rmonth on average - 1250. Is this for business use?2

I've read through the T&Cs for the extra insurance and it does not mention the 10,000 page limit.
I'm just nervous that they'll ask why Canon haven't fixed it and how I respond. If I tell the truth I worry they'll find a loophole, but their T&Cs are not very long and have no mention of a page excess....

Does it have a fair / reasonable use clause?
So you have exceeded the page count that Canon's warranty covers by "well over" 50%.
You are worried that by "telling the truth" they will find a loophole. With respect, in a way that is exactly what you are trying to do.
Most printer manufacturers' quote an estimated life and I have seen figures in the very low thousands of pages for cheaper printers. A £300 printer probably sits somewhere in the middle between domestic and heavy office use. 15000 prints would be 2p per page and you have gone "well over" that so your per page cost is less than 2p. I have to say I think that is reasonable.0 -
Hi, I didn't realise there were more replies.
Does it exclude business use? - No
Does it have a fair / reasonable use clause? - No
To be fair, I have always gone through Currys in the past and never had this issue, they have always been straightforward about a replacement. A staff member explained it that they make their money in the ink (they do!).
I wasn't trying to find a 'loophole' I just felt awkward that I'd already contacted the insurance company then had the refusal from Canon.
The insurance company did not have any clauses re number of prints, business use etc and they did accept it for repair. I can update on the outcome.
Thanks for all inputs.1 -
Just for anyone else who may find this useful, the insurance company couldn't repair the printer and issued a refund voucher so it was all straightforward in the end.4

I hope so! Easier to wait over the year (if you can) to claim on the insurance and in two decades of using Canon printers this is the first they have highlighted the page count limit - so good to know👍0
