PCP Car Finance Advice Please

Hi all,

I entered in a car finance deal with a big stupidity hat on and walked away with a lovely car but sadly I am in a bit of trouble with it so would like to ask questions here:

1) I bought a Range Roger 2018 model and the DPF filter has been giving me all sorts of issues. For some reason on Facebook and Insta I am getting tons of adverts about DPF claims ongoing? Is this real? Is there something out there fighting this issue courtesy of Land Rover?

2) The finance is killing me and I have noticed from looking at Autotrader that the exact same car is now going for less than half the cost I bought mine in 2023. Is there anything I can do about this? Sell whilst in a contract? Complain that I am paying over the odds? Not sure where I stand with this at all.

Any help you lovely people can throw this way would be amazing and yes, I know I was stupid from the start. Lesson learnt.

Kind Regards

Don’t know about 1 but given it’s on Facebook I would say it’s probably not what it seems and best to avoid.

Regarding 2 you can certainly sell whilst in the finance contract. Get a valuation of your current car based on its condition and mileage (webuyanycar, local dealers, independent garages, etc.) and then ask the finance company for a settlement figure. If it’s same or more than you get the difference, but if it’s worth less then you have to make the shortfall. Which given you think you overpaid seems likely. There’s nothing you can do about that….

DPF issues are quite common on lots of diesels. Particularly on cars used for predominantly low speed journeys.
The car usually gives you a warning to do a high speed run if it senses it is getting clogged, but once they are too clogged they need replacing or cleaning out manually.
Is the DPF still causing you issues?

    Hi all,

You could sell the car but then would need to have to make up what i expect would be negative equity to clear the finance

unfortunately the price is based on what you agreed to when purchased, not what it is worth now. It is a depreciating asset it was always going to go down - admittedly not helped by the thefts and not being able to insure
