The only info showing is that it's not been taxed since July 2000.
I checked another vehicle; a 1994 Honda Civic but the result came back as 'No vehicle details could be found'.
So do you think it was scrapped? Hence the lack of info?
And surely my Corolla from 1987 would have been in the same situation? Unless someone's had it parked up somewhere since 1999/2000.
But then, why didn't they SORN it?
It's all very odd.

As above, is it possible to find out if a vehicle is scrapped from the DVLA, you just need to interpret the results it gives.0

Of course, a particular plate not showing up on vehicleenquiry doesn't NECESSARILY mean the car's been scrapped...
It might have had a plate change.
That plate might be on retention.
It just means there's no car with that registration on the current list of vehicles.1 -

It just means there's no car with that registration on the current list of vehicles.I get it now, when a registration is removed and is not currently assigned, they don't differentiate between removed and put on retention, removed and returned to the pool because the car was scrapped, removed because a private plate was applied and this one can return to the pool or be put back on its original car if no-one wants to buy it, removed because the 'plate has been struck off by DVLA for miss-use, removed because the car chassis has been modified etc.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Also DVLA don't always return a car to it's original registration plate after a cherished plate has been removed or put on retention.
I bought a brand new car in Newcastle with a normal Newcastle plate.
I then put on my own cherished plate.
Five years later I put my cherished plate on retention.
DVLA then issued me with a totally new number - of the correct age - but for Aberdeenshire, not Newcastle.
Vehicles / registration numbers can 'disappear' for many reasons.0 -
There are vehicle history providers in the UK like CarAnalytics and Auto Experts who can provide scrapped car check for very budget friendly cost way cheaper than HPI checks. The car check usually comes along with the basic details of the vehicle like tax and mot along with plate changes, color changes, import export marks and even car valuations. They all source is from the DVLA and highly trusted data providers in the UK so its not made up.-1

DVLA probably doesn't want to spend resources for maintaining data base for this and gave to data providers for profit instead.-1
