I have a old PC (about 2007 vintage) on replacing it about 15 months ago I just unplugged all leads and set up my new Pc.
Of course I should have deleted all info etc on the old Pc but......!
I don't want to reinstall all the cables etc (even if I still have them), just want to dispose of it safely and erase any data on it.
I have read that Curry's/PC world offer a service that does this? I'll enquire next time time I'm in that area, I've found that phoning them is not very good.
I also have two at least old mobile phones that I need to dispose of, any idea's on that too please.
It's spring and I'm trying to have a clean up but wish to do it properly and not just smash the hard drive with a hammer as possibly they might be of use to who ever?

Take the hard drive out of it and drill through it. Dispose of the rest through the local council's recycling centre.

Never use Curry's PC World, never.

That depends, do they still work, if so then sell them, if not then dispose of them through a WEEE bin (in most supermarkets and electrical retailers) or via your local council's recycling centres.

Old hard drives are not much use to most people, however if you want you could connect it to the new PC to take any data off and then format it, but that is a little bit technical and I am guessing you are not that way inclined?

I just wipe them by overwriting with a single pass of random bytes, there's no reason why someone shouldn't have the use of it.

Please donate them , someone will be so happy to have them, it really won't take long to plug in it and return to factory settings, the phones also.

    What mobile have you got?
I usually keep one as spare.
Other working old mobile I tends to sell it to CEX if the still buy it.
Or you can keep it for Trade-in offer next time to buy new mobile?
