Do I have to provide photo identification if applying for probate online ?

Also how do I sign the declaration ? Electronically or do I download/upload a form for signature ?0

Photographic ID isn't required. And neither is a signature. Online probate application is similar to renewing a UK passport, and arguably easier. The same nail-biting worry over whether Royal Mail have managed to lose a document (original Will or old passport). Why anyone would want to pay a solicitor to do it is a mystery.

Maybe not everyone unlike you and I is capable of getting their heads around the settling of estates. Also at the time we deal with these the grief on top of it makes an easy process even harder

When you upload the application, you will receive notification and it tells you what you have to include when you post off the original will - it is advisable to send the will by recorded delivery.1
