Good morning it's a dry start here, hope it stays that way.
Now back from our little holiday on the N Yorks coast, we enjoyed the break and change of scene. The weather wasn't bad at all, cold of course but we knew it would be. We didn't go anywhere in the car while we were there, just walked round the town every day!
Glad you enjoyed your holiday Izzie, happy belated birthday.
Sounds like you're having a good clear out Gers - I think it makes you feel better. I love a good sort out, I often go through cupboards and drawers..I
Hope everyone is ok and has a good day today, we have no plans.
Take care folks.

Good morning all - and welcome back @Scarlet, it's good to hear that you enjoyed your days in Whitby. I hope you feel refreshed after it. And, welcome back and happy belated 🎂 to @Izzy. Struggling to embrace retirement was difficult for me too and I'm not sure that I fully have yet. My spirit is raring to do something productive but the flesh (my hips) have other ideas! This morning there's a blanket of thick grey cloud covering the sea and it's -1°. It's not luring me out of bed yet. Today I'll continue to cull the kitchen gadgets, it's very cathartic. Less pleasurable will be folding the bed linen 😀 though putting it away will be. Small joys. Apart from that life today will be quiet. I'll occupy myself with setting up spreadsheets for the new financial year, another small joy.Take care everyone. Hugs to our poorlies.12

Morning allFrosty here too today. Blue sky looks lovely though. Another sporty day on the tv today. Apart from that and hanging some towels out to see if they might dry in the cold air I'll wish you all a good day and hugs for the poorlies x12

Frosty here too though lovely and bright.Yesterday consisted of some hedge cutting, tree branch removal, bread making and lots of patio sweeping and scrubbing. Today will be less active as I have achey shoulders.Decided to just finish the craft projects I have started and make that do for the fair at the end of the month - I don’t have time to make anymore things with everything else I need to get done so feel better now I’ve made that decision.Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday whatever you’re doing

Good morning, welcome back Scarlet, Whitby is somewhere I would love to visit.
Frosty but sunny start, big dog needed a wee at 6.30, but OH sorted him out.
Chrisca , thanks for telling me its another day of sport, something to look forward to. DH likes his sport but I'm not so enthusiastic, so another day of finding things to do. Yesterday the bathroom got a good bottoming.
Izzy, I also find retirement difficult sometimes. It's like you look forward to it for so long, then your life seems to stop in a way. I think it's the seeing and chatting to work colleagues I miss the most. I will say the DH finds it harder than me, that's why he's always finding jobs to do.
Left over gammon for dinner with some roasties and veg.
Have a good Sunday everyone, and if its sloth Sunday, enjoy it. Hugs to all who need them. Take care.12 -
Morning All
No sunshine this morning but it's dry and bright. Yesterday was absolutely glorious, the sun was quite warm if you were out of the biting wind!
We had a lovely day at the beach yesterday although realised on the way home that we hadn't actually gone onto the sand! The little one was wizzing about on her bike and visited two different swing parks so she was more than happy. The fish and chips were really lovely and fresh, I just got a small portion and still couldn't eat it all.
Got the washing in when I got home that was all dry, it was aired off by the radiators and is all put away now.
Picked up the new phone so had a stressful time swapping things over - why doesn't it go as smoothly as it says! Anyway, apart from losing all the Whatsapp messages (not really a problem) it's all done now.
Hoping everyone is well and you have an enjoyable and peaceful Sunday. Take care. XX12 -
Good morning from Mehefinland.
Well it's certainly 'here we go around the mulberry bush' weather here. The field was covered in a thick white frost this morning and a thickish layer of ice on the water tanks Brrr!
Got someone coming for poo at 930, and I'm off to a beach litter clean at 1130 ,so a busy day in store. I too struggled with retirement initially - it certainly takes time to adjust and since Dawn's passing it is harder on occasions. Keeping busy helps, but I find I run out of steam a little quicker these days.
Taken over the council clerk's role again as ours resigned. Not something I really wanted to do but I was the only one with any experience so it fell on me. We are interviewing next week so hopefully it will be a shortish tenure. It isn't an easy job in lots of ways - so much goes on behind the scenes. It has become a fulltime occupation and is being advertised as such. Had I been 10 years younger I might have considered it, but not now.
Hugs and spoons as always , especially the poodles. Spring is a-coming

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Nice to have you back with us. It's a long time since I stayed in Whitby but last year when I had the w/e away with DD and the DGDs it was a toss up between there and Scarborough. The latter won as my legs don't cope well with anywhere hilly (or the multitude of steps in Whitby!)
Is there only me who didn't miss working when I retired?! I was full of plans which were put on hold when the 3 DGDs started to come along and I ended up doing lots of childminding, school runs, etc. I was one of the lucky ones who could retire before the goalposts got moved so childminding wasn't quite as hard as it might have been if I'd had to work until older!
Not a lot planned for today. The wm is chugging away doing a white wash, the dw is to go on next as there will be no room for all the Sunday lunch stuff, and then some veg to prep. Watching any of today's sport won't be on the agenda! I'll delve into all the films I have recorded and see what appeals. It won't be a new film I prefer the older and tested ones.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, sad or lonely. x .

Hi everyone,
I can honestly say that retirement was the best thing ever for me! I was the Town Clerk and loved the job itself but as time went on dealing with the public and some of the Councillors became very wearing. There were a lot of entitled keyboard warriors around and some of the complaints were ridiculous. I remember one woman complaining that the leaves off the trees in the park were being blown into her garden in the Autumn. I was also threatened by a few people because of trying to enforce cemetery regulations!
I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself after giving the kitchen a good going over. The eating side of the kitchen had become a bit of a dumping ground and now it's completely clear. It makes me smile every time I walk in there, however, as Steve said it will not last long when the family get home.
I want to tackle the dining room today and then I will have sorted the three main downstairs rooms.
Next week is looking to be busy, it's my birthday tomorrow, then on Tuesday Steve and I are going to a talk by an author we like with a late lunch beforehand. On Wednesday I am going with two friends (one of whom has her 70th on Tuesday) to lunch and then the theatre, Thursday is our usual Nate sitting day, we have a quiz on Friday, Saturday is the theatre again ans next Sunday is a family day out. Phew, I hope I survive.
Have a good day.13 -
Morning! sunny! Re the retirement, I officially retired in December, mind you that's after six years of not working. Originally, I found it a bit difficut as I felt like I should be doing something all the time, that any free time I had had to be justified by 'doing'. I think if you have hobbies, you can find things to do, if you like reading, you now have the oportunity to enoy it guilt free, and that goes fo anything you like doing. I have never missed working, and I htink if you have a core of good friends [ I have five core very close friends] then you are always going to be good for a chat about whatever is bothering you, or them. And if you take advantage of the kinds of things that will bring you into contact with new people who may be future friends, all the better, so the volunteering aspect, joining a club, like U3A, or the WI, a gardening club, a wildlife club, a walking club or DIY club, an allotment, you can have the social aspect back if you want to. I think reframing it in your mind as an opportunity rather than an ending is important too. It's a good time to be completely selfish too in a way, because you can please yourself if you want to, all of the itme, or some of the time...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi13
