When you restore your google back up of your phone to a new one, it restores the actual apps which were used on previous phone
But is there a way to automate the restoration the same organisation as you had before -
i.e. Which apps/icon were grouped in which folder

Tentative suggestion, Samsung Smart Switch on both phones.
Tentative because I think this happened when I set up my last phone but this was a Samsung --> Samsung xfer.
Phones don't need to be Samsung to install SSS but don't know how much functionality is dependent on this.0 -
https://forums.crackberry.com/ask-question-f432/how-restore-android-backup-maintain-app-icon-layout-1196243/ seems to suggest the functionality is more to do with your launcher rather than anything else.So I think you may need to look at whether the launcher on the old phone had an export option that you could then reimport to copy the folder grouping arrangements. Not all launchers do. If that one you had before doesn't there isn't much else you can do, you'd have to set the folders up again.2

Nova launcher does this, amongst a ton of other things. it's great though it's a paid for app.1
