Paid off today. Mortgage payments interest only?

Hi folks,
Looking for advice.
Ive just been paid off today effecrive immediately and i am wondering if i should ask my lender (Halifax) to move my payments to interest only.
I believe i can do this for 6 months?
Is this correct and are there any implications for my credit history?

I have savings to cover me for a while but would obviously like to lower my outgoings for a while.

Is tbis sensible?
Any other tboughts?

Thanks for reading

It could make sense for some.
Just keep in mind that after the 6 months period your monthly payments will be higher than currently as you will have additional six months payments to pay.
