Current phone is the iPhone SE latest one - was gonna get 16e but this whole privacy thing in uk put me off but I was gonna look past that however I hate face id on phones

Budget 200 to £400 but willing to stretch to probably 650 most

Am not fussed about camera as long half decent- for me the top priority is security , privacy and performance

I seen fairphone on TV and seems decent but am not convinced on how reliable or sturdy it is

A56 seems pretty good, but can only be bought on Samsung site ?

Used have pixel 3a but something put me off and never decided to go back with pixels
The fairphone is user repairable with spare parts easily available. I know a few people with them and they seem pretty robust.

To be honest if your top priorities are security, privacy and performance you can’t go wrong with iPhone.

The current problems re Uk government insisting on a back door into the cloud saved stuff is interesting but at least Apple is pushing back, you can bet the same thing is happening with android but I’ve not heard about google pushing back.

Buy the A56 from Samsung and trade in your old phone....Always buy mine direct from Samsung with no problems.

Personally, hate all the bloatware on the Samsung phones, Motorola you have to be very careful on which ones have what level of support (some of the budget models are still only 2 OS versions from the date of launch).

Google Pixel phones are a good choice with a clean interface.

If you are well into the iPhone eco system, then it may well be worth staying there now they have a decent lower end option again.
