Could anyone recommend a free Satnav for Android?

5 years ago my cousin gave me his old stand alone TomTom sat nav, which is OK except the battery needs charging for 5 minutes before it boots up, and the screen needs a hard tap to work, so I was wondering if there was a cheap free satnav available for my Android phone.  Since I don't travel much it could be basic, just directions for locations in the UK.

As above, I would just put them the other way around due to the community inputs for re-routing etc. Both are owned by Google and free.

So google maps includes an option for live sound based instructions to get to a destination like a sat nav?

I've only used the PC version of google maps.

Yes it can function as a satnav, Waze is designed to be a satnav from the ground up.

Google maps (& Apple Maps) and phone have pretty much killed / replaced the standalone systems

the only downside is trying to use them in a spot with no phone-signal. (And data costs if that is a concern to you)

Waze or Google maps as everyone is saying.....Waze would be my preference as it gives more information on the move.
