Speeding NIP - Final Reminder

Hoping to get some advise.
I received a NIP / Request for Driver info today for a speeding offence. It says at the top of the letter in capitals 'FINAL REMINDER' and alludes to the fact that they had already sent me this.
The offence supposedly happened on 25th Jan. The letter is dated 10th March.
This is the first I have seen or heard about this. The letter doesn't say when they first sent me a letter but I didn't get anything. Obviously, the offence was over 6 weeks ago and I guess I was in the area at the time but it could have been either me or the wife driving.
I have 7 days to respond. Is there anything I can do based on this being the first I have heard about this?
My only concern is that they are sending this as a first letter but making it out to be a final reminder as it is now 6 weeks after the date and not 14 days during which they are meant to have contacted me.
Thoughts?

Depends if you want to attend court and state it as a defence (not recommended).
I'd just choose one of you and declare it.

Fair play. That is the likely way I'll go as I think they will offer a speed awareness course.Car1980 said:Depends if you want to attend court and state it as a defence (not recommended).

I just thought that maybe there may be some form of push back based on past experience of others on her that I can do as a first port of call without having to go to court.
I have no idea if they are trying to pull a fast oneIf you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0 -
The important thing to do for now is to respond to the request to name the driver, because if you don’t you face 6 points for failing to nominate the driver, and a resulting large hike in your insurence premiums.

The 14 days is irrelevant since you state the document clearly states “reminder”
Presumably they can show the 1st document was sent in a timely fashion.
Are your details on your V5 100% correct (don’t guess, look)
As already said, you just respond and if you aren’t 100% sure of the driver at the time, name the most likely one. Dont try and play games or as above - the result will be 6 points as opposed to…. (Can’t advise since you haven’t given any details of the offence)1 -
If you need more advice post over on FTLA, but don’t do so without first reading the ‘Read me first’ thread.
