Spouse Visa

Options
My husband is on a spouse visa with me in the UK.  I am his sponsor.  He is not working or claiming benefits.  Does he or I need to make any payments to Tax/NI/NHS for example.  Also how do we prove to his birth country that he is covered here by the NHS?

Thank you

Tax will depend on which tax you are talking about? He's not working so won't pay income tax but will pay VAT when he buys stuff in a shop.

The NHS you paid £1,035 per year as part of the visa application fees, so assuming he got a 30 month visa as normal then you would have paid £2,587.50 at the time. Nothing else is due until the next visa at which point you'll be charged again at the prevailing rate for the duration of the visa up front.

No need to make any payments until it is time to apply for Further Leave to Remain (FLR-M) when his visa is close to expiry.

Why is there a need to prove to his home country that he is covered by the NHS?

The medical insurance company he used back in his country are requesting proof before they will cancel his contract.  Everything we send they say is not enough.  Hence we are still paying for something he doesn’t need.

Thank you for replying to my earlier question.
