Not advised of a change in chain

Options
Has anyone been in a situation where the chain changed and they were not advised until the solicitor proposed completion dates.

Everything began in November and we were progressing along nicely in a small chain of 3.
Property 1 - first time buyer (my sale)
Property 2 - My purchase
Property 3 - end of chain.

It is only now when the FTB is ready and all queries surveys etc have been wrapped up for the property 2 purchase and completion dates discussed, that the solicitor acting on behalf of the seller for the sale of property 2 and purchase of property 3 has said they are not ready despite having previously asked about exchange.
It has come to light that the seller of property 2 pulled out of their purchase and found a new property in a much much larger chain back in January but noone informed me or my solicitor.

It happens and is perfectly legal. There is no obligation to be open and honest in house buying, unfortunately.

  • I thought so much. The sellers clearly didn't understand the implications of changing the chain and the estate agent has admitted he was informed but missed the email and therefore did not pass the info on to us. Such as shame as had we known we wouldn't have spent the money on having a survey done in February.
