Input the wrong car reg when buying my parking ticket and not sure I will get appeal upheld

Hi all, grateful for any help... I'm new to the forum and sorry if this is the wrong place to message. I got a parking ticket from APCOA after parking at a train station. I have dyslexia and long covid and accidentally put in the last three digits wrong - sometimes my memory fails and I get brain fog. I put in the last three digits of my old car but the first four digits were correct. I am naive and thought if I explained my mistake and show my ticket the ticket would be waived. It was rejected and I got asked if I want to pay £20.

I appealed to POPLA and explained I have long covid and a learning disability but wasn't explicit. I also realise I should have mentioned the Equalities Act after reading the forum. I am worried my appeal will be rejected and not sure what will happen after that. I have put in a complaint on the APCOA website and also appealed to the landowners - Network Rail and South Western Rail but they won't help.....

If POPLA reject, can you guide me on my options? Any advice appreciated - I feel really overwhelmed by this!

If popla reject the appeal,  ignore APCOA and ignore the powerless debt collectors letters too

In future,  come here for advice first, before appealing

Thank you, I only realised there was so much info here after I did it. I will next time. I am worried about if I ignore letter and they try and take me to court but I think I can use the Equalities Act as my defence and also that there was no loss of earnings to the car park as I bought a ticket and parked correctly.

I just hope it doesn't get to that stage as it seems a lot for a human error but I guess these parking companies are ruthless!

It's safe to TOTALLY IGNORE. Unless APCOA break the habit of a lifetime and sue. Unlikely.

Dig out the first notice, look at the heading:

    - Penalty Notice?

    - Parking Charge Notice?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

It says Penalty Notice on it.  I am hoping that means they have no grounds...

One thing I worried about is if they send me debt collection letters, does this affect my credit rating?

I wish I'd known all this stuff before - I think I have paid a fine to them in the past. This forum is a fountain of knowledge :)

Penalty Notice is good. It times out in just six months. All over.

    Of course not!
