Enduring POA (Northern Ireland)

Has anyone any experience of setting up Enduring POAs in Northern Ireland?
Reading up on some of the blurb it seems like you don't have to register them straight away (the way you are recommended to do for the rest of GB) - you just do this when you actually need to use them.
So I wonder whether it might be worthwhile going through Which Wills or a similar process to keep the cost down rather than going to a solicitor?

The Law Society of NI provide a form for free. Assume you can download that and complete, sign and witness. Then register it formally when the time comes. Can't avoid the cost for that stage though.1

You are right. We did this a while back for my mum and dad.
My parents set up PoA for them selves with their solicitor. When the time came, we registered this with the court in Chichester Street in Belfast. You download and complete the form and supply this with the PoA document. They took around four weeks to process and return this with all the stamps.
It is well worth taking this to them in person as they check the forms are completed correctly. All in all, it was pretty straightforward. There was a charge for registering with the court, but I can't remember how much this was.1
