Forgotten pin for Chip account

I normally access my Chip app account via the finger print option on my iPad. Today after a long time and timing out when logging in I now have to put in my PIN number. Foolishly I have no idea of where I noted the PIN number down and so have tried to use their “forgotten pin number” contact option. But all you get is an auto response email asking for the phone number linked to my account. Which I have provided but it also asks for the verification number you received to that number. But haven’t had any text messages from them giving me this number. And even them they will ask for a selfie holding some form of ID! If only I could remember that PIN number! Has anyone else gone through this process?

I can't remember whether Chip is one of those where the PIN is linked to a specific device. It may be worth reinstalling the app and seeing if it will prompt you to set it up with SMS again.

I have read that the app can be accessed via multiple devices so suspect it would just ask for the pin number for access. I could kick myself not having no idea where I might have written that pin down if I even did!

That's what I suspected when the PIN was optional. But when I installed it on a different device the PIN was not required, making it pretty useless as a security measure. However, I don't know if things changed when the PIN became required.

The app wasn’t working correctly yesterday anyway. When I first tried to access it in the morning by finger print access it took ages to login and eventually timed out. I tried again later in the day where it progressed a bit further and sent me a one time  pass code through my phone. But I typed it in it came up with an error message. I tried again later second time. Got a new pass code sent to my phone and again an error message. On a third attempt the biometric option had gone from the login screen and that’s when I needed my PIN number. So it was already glitchy even before needing my PIN number. And getting through to them is a nightmare. Where the only way to “talk to them” is through the app. Which I can’t access at all. Or email where you just get an auto reply. So my cash isa is unavailable to me! The perils of an app only account and foolishly forgetting the only access to it apart from the biometric access which has worked for over a year or more!
