Vintage and Collectables Roadshow

Can anyone give any feedback on this firm which distributes brochures, advertising these roadshows where apparently they buy things for cash?

What feedback do you want? They'll pay the sorts of prices that antique dealers do for their stock and then resell it at the prices they retail at.

You'll undoubtedly get more by selling the items yourself seperately but there is a convenience of being able to dump them in bulk and walk away with the monies.

There are lots of similar companies.

I took some unwanted gold jewellery to one that appeared locally to me.

Unfortunately for them, I knew the exact weight (I have jewellery scales) and knew what a fairly local (12 miles away) jeweller paid for scrap 9 carat gold. They update their website daily.

After a miserly offer, I showed them the website and queried the price per gram they were offering.
They said they had to make a profit.
I said 'so does the jeweller'.
They pointed out the time and cost it would take to visit the jeweller.
I replied that I was retired so had all the time in the world and I had a bus pass so it would cost nothing.

They gradually improved their offer until it was probably not too far from the jeweller's.
But by that time, I was well and truly hacked off at their tactics and wouldn't sell to them on principle (I didn't need the money and still have the jewellery).

    We parted ways somewhat acrimoniously.

I wouldn't take any jewellery to any of these places.

One thing nowhere on the internet can you find an address for this company, can't find them on Companies House, a similar named company was struck off.

I can see on a review someone brought this up and they replied they could not give their address for security reasons, well if you believe that...................

If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

I get one of these through the door once or twice a year, various neighbours have taken unwanted items to them and have been satisfied with the outcome.
As mentioned before, the convenience of the service makes it an attractive choice for a lot of people.
You can arrange a home visit too, another thing that helps older people, certainly.
