Full value of estate unknown

Hi. I was approached by geneologists in Feb claiming j was entitled to a share of a deceased relatives estate. The letters of administration were dated march 2024 and have a gross/net amount of money on them. However, i can see that the deceaseds property sold in May 2024 for £20 000 more than expected. How do i now know how much her estate is worth?  Geneologists wont disclose the estate value.

Who are the administrators of the estate? That information should be on the grant. Costs a few quid to download from the Probate Registry.

Have the heir hunters identified what percentage of the estate value they take as their fee?

The value of an estate is based on value at the time of death so unless it is all cash the amount available to distribute could be somewhat different. Properties may sell for more or less than the probate estimate, stocks snd shares can go up and down, or an unknown creditor might craw out of the woodwork and there will also be estate expenses which could be significant if the estate is being administered by professionals. 

So the answer to your question is you can’t, you will just have wait until it is distributed and you are provided with a set of estate accounts.
