Solicitor over-charging for house purchase, as they already have my business for house sale

you could ask another solicitor for a quote and go with another solicitor if their quote is cheaper. there is no need to use the same solicitor for both, although it does help to keep things simpler, but no big deal really to choose a different solicitor for the purchase.
i find that the cost for purchase is generally double that for a sale as they have to do much more work. it is plausible that the 10% increase in price makes it more expensive as it falls into a different threshold.0 -
wouldnt worry about using 2 different solicitors. We had to swap our purchasing solicitor to a more local one, more familiar with the ground rent on freehold houses that we had to deal with as our selling one (local to where we used to live) had no clue what they were doing and it just wasted 2 months of time with them faffing about.0
