Skoda Service Plan not Activated

Hi all,
I hope you can help.
We recently bought a Skoda second-hand from a Skoda retailer. We paid for a Service Plan to cover the first 2 services, as well as some other warranty bits.
The retailer has since stopped being a Skoda authorised retailer, so we switched to a new one, which is really good.
However, when we booked our car in for a service and MOT with the new retailer, we were told that our Service Plan wasn't on the system. When we called the old retailer we bought the car from, they said they don't know why it wasn't set up, but since they don't have access to Skoda's systems any longer, they can't set it up.
So they offered to refund the cost of the Service Plan, but the problem is, setting up a new Service Plan with the new Skoda retailer will cost us an extra £300, which isn't money I have easily available.
I don't really know what my rights are here. Should the old retailer cover the extra cost? Should the old retailer offer to service our car for free? What options do I have?
We already had a bad experience with the old retailer with regards to the car, so I'm not really keen to have them service our car. I wouldn't trust them to do a good job. However, I also don't want to have to pay extra to get our car serviced by the new retailer, which we really like.
Please help.

Do you have paperwork detailing the service plan from the original purchasing documentation ? If so have you approached Skoda themselves with it ?0

Thank you. We do have the invoice, showing we paid for the Service Plan. I will try contacting Skoda directly. That's a good suggestion.0

I've logged a case with Skoda now and they will look into it. So let's hope they can sort it.0

I had a issue with Peugeot, Service contract and AA cover for 5 years. The dealer shut down, Service was not an issue, but the AA cover disappeared, plus they went over to the RAC.I complained, and was told tough, contract is not valid or something like that.Well that suited me fine, time to get started, Called Peugeot, Peugeot finance, Resolver, FCA not sure on that one.But in the end i got, Money for AA cover back plus interest & £150 good will store credit, Someone in Peugeot sent me a 3 year AA plan, never found out who. That put me about £600 ahead including the AA cover. Then they made me pay for a service that year or would not give me my car back.Another £100 credit plus service cost paid back, my car is 9 years old in September 2025 and it will be the first time Ive paid for an mot. Bunch of idiots.Just keep on at them.
