Eon billing issue

Hi Guys
Hope someone can help with the best way forward this one.
We switched to Eon in early November last year for our Gas and Electric at work (a small cycle shop).
The issue I have is with the gas reading, we use on average between 5 and 6 units of gas per day, we always have for 28 years, we have a boiler that heats the central heating and 2 hot taps nothing else.
I gave them a reading at the start from the meter and since then they have been getting readings from the AMR that is attached to the meter daily.
All was good for 2 months, when on the 13th Jan the AMR spiked up 350 units! the next day 14th Jan it spiked another 140 units? overall approx 40 times our average daily usage, even if our boiler was on permanent and the taps running for 24 hours it wouldn't use a fraction of that.
Now the thing is the actual meter reads as it should for this period (about 12 units for 2 days) but the AMR is now 490 units ahead of the meter.
Eon are billing me from the AMR and insisting this is correct (my Jan to Mar bill £600 more than it should be) which obviously it isn't because it now reads 490 units more than the meter.
Eon won't budge and seem reluctant to acknowledge that it would be impossible for me to use that amount of energy in 2 days (I could heat the whole High street for that amount)
I have opened a case and just waiting for the relevant time frame to elapse before I go to the Ombudsman.
As anyone had a similar experience and can anyone offer any advice?
Please remember, the actual meter is fine and has read 5 to 6 units a day throughout.
Thanks

Just checking - are you being billed on Actual or Estimated readings ?

I have a business supply with a AMR where the communications packed up and the readings got Estimated (in my case underestimated).  These meters (just like the domestic ones) rely on a battery. Mine has an external battery/communications black box and this had to be replaced.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Hi Robin, No this is an actual reading, they get a daily update of the read at their end, I have made progress today however, the company who fitted the meter have agreed there is a fault and are arranging a visit to resolve it. Just a shame Eon next weren't prepared to even consider there could be a fault, pure greed.
