Can`t remember the last time I saw a drunken hen/stag/student/random loud people group running wild in a BnB blasting out music etc.Grumpy_chap said:
That is probably too specific a basis for a taxation class to be set against.ReadySteadyPop said:Just make it that if you use the Airbnb platform to advertise then you pay double, make it so Airbnb have to disclose who is listing with them and dates they listed?
One can only imagine that a competitive AirBnB would arise, I dunno, maybe LiloBnB...0 -

“The sums of money needed from extra fundraising are too small to bridge the gap between what councils are being asked to do and their income. A second home tax and a tourist tax only scratch the surface,” Travers said."
Maybe, but is the double council tax as easy to avoid as he says?

I'm in the same boat and it sucks! You could rent it out via airbnb/booking.com etc. for 182 days a year to be classed as a business which means you don't pay council tax. Or rent it out long-term using a third party company as you can no longer be a landlord/lady without jumping through a load of hoops. Or you put it on the market and hope it sells within 12 months. I opted for the first option but it isn't easy because you have to find cleaners and make sure it's well kept etc. plus you need to keep on top of who's going in and when and be there to communicate if they need you. It's a tough one and I feel your pain!0

What is the solution in your opinion? Most posters seem to think that people should be forced to sell up so locals can buy the properties?iMerc said:I'm in the same boat and it sucks! Not really, just a 2nd home owner trying to justify their 2nd home by suggesting it wouldn't be suitable as a 1st home. Which I'm sure has been mentioned on one of these Double CT threadsReadySteadyPop said:If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
