LPA query after Martin's show - 5 people to sign?

Hello
Can anyone help or shed light on Martin's statement that a "minimum of 5 people need to sign an LPA"?  This was clearly stated on his presentation last night (just watching now).  It's put us into a bit of a panic as we're in the process of getting an LPA registered and this was NOT the case.

We did it all online and our neighbour signed all the relevant parts in the correct order etc - so only THREE people involved in each LPA application.

If this is correct we should be fine and if so Martin needs to correct his statement too because it is quite complex working through each step if doing it without a solicitor.

Any guidance welcome.

Thanks.

Thank you - so Martin’s info was incorrect on his programme? Only checking because it could confuse people,

The donor needs to sign + their witness

Each Attorney needs to sign + their witnesses

The certificate provider needs to sign.

So if there is only one attorney, 5 signatures are required but the certificate provider can also act as witness for both the attorney and donor, so at the very minimum 3 people are required.

    Thank you  - makes sense.
I just wish Martin hadn’t put “minimum of 5 PEOPLE to sign”

definitely only 3 of us in the room when I did PoA for mother - agree, it wasn't helpful - lot of older people find the whole procedure intrusive and prefer that few people know about it - mother would never have agreed to 2 more people "knowing her business"

    I noticed this as well.

The MSE website is also incorrect and I have sent them an email. It incorrectly says the witness for the Donor and Attorney must be different people…..

    QUOTE
    3. The representative (and a witness):
✅ Complete and sign section 11 in the presence of a witness (this must be a different witness to the one used by the donor). Your witness then signs and writes their full name and address where asked.
    UNQUOTE

THIS INCORRECT. Even the gov.uk site states “ Your certificate provider can witness your and your attorneys’ signatures.”.
