@MWT
In the Instruction section she has saidMy attorneys may transfer my investments into a discretionary management scheme, even though this means that investment decisions will be made by the managers of the scheme and the investments will be held in the name of the managers of the scheme or their nominees.0 -
I would not say that that rules out taking other actions on her behalf, just because she has not specifically mentioned them.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -
@Robin9
Unfortunately as the situation stands they are not allowing me to do anything .The conversation this morning was that the LPOA was still not registered even though I have been told it is.I can’t do anything ..0 -
Then leave the account in her name and pay the bills online.
when the property comes to be sold you (she) will get a final invoice from UW.
Personally I would transfer away from UW - long discussions on the forum about the merits or not of UW bundled approach.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -

Update:
thank you all for your help and advice.
UW just decide to not return any calls.Found out the Mum has been paying £48 a year just for receiving paper bills as had no mobile / PC / email.I went through to the on line registration team, said I was my Mum (who is 85 and I’m 30 yrs younger) gave my email address and was automatically given access to the account on line.I am now going to change providers for energy and broadband and phone,
But will still chomp at the bit when it comes to the total incompetency with regards to the way UW administer LPOA registration.3 -
And the saga of trying to register LPOA continues ..
In spite of saying they need the access codes to register, have viewed them, they now say that:
The document received is a notification to the attorney, which is not accepted.
I thought the GOV UK access codes mean that the Attorneys do not have to constantly send certified copies to organisations or corporations.Every other org/corp I have contacted including savings, investments, pensions have accepted the access codes. The only organisation who wanted a certified copy sent via post was HMRC which I fully understand.This is just ridiculous and not sure UW staff actually know what they’re doing.0 -
Forget UW - progressively change the utilities to other suppliers.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill3

@ChickenLicken12 As was suggested earlier in the thread, phone the OPG.
Ask them to confirm that the LPOA is fully registered, and ask them if they would confirm that it does allow you to manage her utility bills. Then ask them would they mind confirming that in an email to you.
Once you have that, any more nonsense from UW, you can send them a copy of that email, also make a FORMAL complaint and tell them you will go to the Ombudsman if need be.2
