UC backdating?

Options
Hi there
I claim UC, and until recently was claiming carers allowance too.

While cancelling the CA claim UC told me "we can look at backdating you for any payments that have been deducted from yourselves".

Now they have told me that I am not due any payments.

So did I misunderstand what they said? I thought that I was going to get payments back from the 5+ years I missed money out on UC because I was getting CA instead.

    Afraid so.

You can't have Carers payment & carers payment via UC. It is one or the other.

You can claim Carers Allowance and receive the carers element on UC at the same time. Carers Allowance is subtracted from UC though.

If you didn't claim UC at the same as Carers Allowance previously, then they can't backdate anything.

Neuro can you confirm what you mean, was UC claimed during the time you where getting Carers Allowance? If it was then it should have been send to a decision maker for a late reporting of a change decision.
