There is no set amount of money you can be given. It depends on your situation, circumstances and needs.
Could someone apply for £1000 for special clothes to get back into self employment?

No. Flexible Support Fund is limited to provide basic assistance only and subject to a criteria. It is principally to help support people back into employment or towards employment.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.1 -

Perhaps the clothes are for 'Astronaut training', following on from the space programme provided by Restartmarcia_ said:

So £20 for a boiler suit ?
You will have to be a lot more forthcoming with details and “plans” with them to get £1000 for “maybe tradesperson” clothes than you are here.

As you are asking the question. You must know if it is or isn't.
Not forgetting that as for business use you can offset against tax etc.Life in the slow lane1 -
This forum is for helping people navigate the system and get what they're entitled to, not wasting people's time and energy answering hypothetical questions with no basis in reality.Oneplanetonelife said:Working clothes for self employment maybe tradesmen5
