Does comprehensive insurance covers your injury?

Hey guys,
I was trying to find answer for this, but checked everywhere but couldn't.

Comprehensive car insurance of course covers your car damage but does it cover injuries as well?

Thanks

Motor insurance covers damage to your own vehicle plus a token amount of cover for stuff in the car. The other big section is third party liability so if you are at fault then it will cover losses you caused to others including both property damage and bodily damage

There is often a token Personal Accident section which will cover for major injuries like a loss of limb but can be as low as £5k for the most serious injuries or death. Some offer to increase the limits but it's still permanent disability stuff not whiplash or a broken bone.

Similarly some will cover a modest sum for basic prescription charges for painkillers or such but often under £100 limit.

People with multiple claims in 14 years are more likely to be the ones that know than the ones with no claims. Unfortunately policy books dont make for interesting reading so most people dont bother. Since Aggregators like confused.com came into the picture what "Comprehensive" covers varies more than it used to as buyers there look at price above all else so many have stripped out the lesser parts to get their prices cheaper.

Consider whether you've ever heard of anybody getting compensation for something which was their own fault...I can see plenty of potential for fraud if drivers could e.g. create their own whiplash injury and claim for it.

Yes, but it's in New Zealand where all compensation comes from the Accident Compensation Corporation plus compensation is only for loss of earnings, treatment and home adaptation, the former is only after X weeks. There is no payment for pain, suffering and loss of amenities (aka general damages) which make up the a good proportion of compensation here.

Accidents are covered irrespective of fault or the situation, even self harm can be covered in certain circumstances.
