Maiden name on HMLR Register - stopping remortgage?

Basically - HMLR shows wife's previous name. Mortgage company solicitors says we can't remortgage until details are updated but that'll take a long time.
Our fixed mortgage is ending in June.
The solicitor spotted that my wife's maiden name is on the HMLR records as we brought the house before we were married.
We've just submitted an AP1 form to HMLR to get them to change it. However they've told us it should be done in July. The mortgage company solicitors have said that we'd need to have this done before a remortage can be completed.
Seems ridiculous that it's going to take that long to update one field. But also ridiculous that the solicitors can't also see the obvious situation which is that my wife's name has changed but the records on HMLR haven't yet been updated.
I'm not really sure what to do in this scenario. Feels like we could:
I'm sure we can't be the only ones in this situation. Any advice? Or any other option I'm missing?

- Try to get HMLR to expedite the request - their guidance (forum won't let me post URL but it's called 'Request an expedite') isn't really clear whether we're in an applicable situation or not.
- Give up with this mortgage provider and choose a slightly worse deal but will accept that this is fine
- Let the fixed mortgage lapse, take the hit of paying the SVR for a few months until the mortgage is completed - will be pricey I expect
I'm sure we can't be the only ones in this situation. Any advice? Or any other option I'm missing?

I wonder if it is because the title isn't updated on a remortgage, so the solicitors knowing that name has changed need it to reflect the correct details, hence why you need to change it.
I would ask that they expedite it and see what comes of that. I'm not sure if you can expedite it yourself but land registry can advise.0 -

2 and 3 Always options but unnecessary if 'best' deal for you as the hurdle as described is a simple one to get over
By way of a very simplistic explanation lenders offer a whole range of mortgage products and all have their own risk profiles/requirements.
In a number of cases the risk assessment is a very simple one and almost what you might refer to as a 'Computer says No' scenario - if something doesn't match, such as a name, then the process stops and can't continue. Having a computer make such decisions based on a human-created algorithm keeps the lender costs low and whilst switching to another product or lender is always an option as their risk assessment may differ, it's not really necessary
Make the expedite request and trust that all the required information and correct application has bene made and the register update re the name can generally be completed within 2 weeks“Official Company Representative
