Cancelling car insurance renewal after payment

Hi, I’ve just recently renewed my car insurance policy with my existing insurer (Aviva Zero) for £600. My insurance policy renews on 1st April. I’ve paid upfront  couple of days ago.

I’ve just done a new quote search and believe I can get a policy with a different insurer for £430.

can I cancel my renewal, get a full refund and replace with this new policy easily?
are there any pitfalls?

( I’ve read about cancelled policies being an issue online)
thanks in advance!

    Should be fairly simple
mad it’s a renewal no aggregator costs involved. They should issue a full refund

be careful to make sure the policy is like for like

You should get the full premium back however there could be an admin fee, you'll just have to check the Ts and Cs.

Policies cancelled by the insured are not an issue.

Thanks, cancelled it this morning via live chat and will get my full premium refunded in a few days, and have purchased the cover from the competitor. Nice saving!

Depending on who you just bought from... sometimes you get what you pay for.

Hopefully they weren’t as flexible with the details as they “advised” here in order to get a cheaper price and declared their previous  claim

I did the same thing last year with Churchill. Cancelled the following day and was charged £20 as an admin fee.

It was in their T&C's. I did not see that. Lesson learned.
