Believe car hit us, an now there taking us to court

We were backing out of a car park and car went into the back of us. The person filed a complaint with there insurance, the mark was like 10p size and there was no mark on our car. We thought we didnt hit either car. They claimed on there insurance, but are insurance wanted proof of what happened we said we dont believe we hit each other and there no damage on the car.
That was about 2 years ago, an now we have a letter from there insurance company saying the car was a hired car and the detailed are passed to solicitors an we will need to go to court.
We dont want to go to court as Im sure if we lose we have to pay a big fee, we thought both partys are to blame as thats the insurance we took out after the crash, so if we call to say it was are fault is that the end or will we have to pay for there solicitor fees?
You might say if you didnt do it go to court we both work, have kids, we just want a easy life and not get dragged into some high cost court things when this was a tiny 10p mark.

If you admit liability your insurance may not cover you. So take advice from your insurance company and do what they say.

Pass the letter on to your insurer at the time, they will deal with it.  You are the one liable but your insurance is there to indemnify you.

You provide that letter to your insurer and they will deal with it.

You don't do anything other than pass that letter to your insurer and let them deal with it.

You will not suffer fees.  The insurance company will deal with the whole thing.

It could be your insurance have been disputing their claim so they are now escalating it.

They have to claim from you but  insurance will deal with it on your behalf.

You pass the matter to your insurers that will respond for you and if you lose in court they will be the ones paying not you.

Cases can go to court for one of two reasons, a dispute on liability or a dispute on quantum (costs). If you dont want to go to court then be honest with your insurers, you will be putting them in a bad position and they will likely state they will settle the claim against you.

You have presumably told your current insurer about this claim and its fault status?
