Bishopsgate Law for conveyancing - any views

They seem like a fairly standard factory model, but have good reviews in several places, advertise giving regular updates (my biggest bugbear is silence/uncontactability), are keenly priced, and do actually have offices close to where we live, work and not far from where we are buying.

So while I'd normally veer towards a local solicitor, this might be a viable way to save a grand... anyone else with any experiences of them?

By the way, when did conveyancing get so expensive?? Even the cheapest quotes are 5 times what we paid when we last bought a house (ok, 20 years ago, but even so...)

  • Can I ask you, did you use Bishopsgate in the end?  If so how did they fair?  Thinking of using them myself.

    thanks

Yes I did, and while it's still ongoing, I've found them to be excellent - very responsive, you get an assigned conveyancer plus a backup, and I've been getting regular updates with documentation, summaries, and their own query tracker that is going back and forth between the parties.

They use a third party provider called ThirdFort to do the ID and source of funds checks (which is not unusual these days) and it was relatively painless given this is a pure cash transaction.

Just hope I'm not jinxing anything here as I'm hoping to exchange in a few weeks!
  • Thanks, are you selling or buying our of interest.?
